Apparently, our Mayor went in some Community Center, took a stroll down Eddy and walked around Chinatown. I got an enthusiastic text from a friend who discovered just this. Interestingly, I just realized that my friend Twitter-searches 'Gavin Newsom,' but that's neither here nor there.
Anyway, it's a gorgeous evening and God bless him, the man is wandering around the city he's supposed to be running. This is a good sign! Maybe he's reconnecting with the city by the bay, remembering why he fell in love with us in the first place and wondering why he ever tried to leave.
Gavin's back to anonymously picking up litter and hooking his favorite hobo, Patches up with lattes and conversation. He's probably taking in the sights and smells (of Eddy Street and Chinatown, naturally) with his hands in his pockets and his head in the clouds. Because Gavin knows that we're better than Hawaii. We might not have their pristine beaches and slutty dances, but we've got so much more.
Like voters. Who elected him to be here.
Anyway, I'm delighted. And I'm happy for the Mayor that he's remembering his spirit and getting some fresh urban air. I, for one, welcome him back with open...arms. I'm only sorry our friends on Twitter didn't provide any info on Gavin's Saturday strolling ensemble...

I think he's making surprise appearances in public like Sally Field did at the mall in Soapdish.
